URGENT UPDATE: A devastating three-vehicle crash in Fayette County has left three people dead and five others hospitalized. The collision occurred on August 14, 2023, around 5:30 p.m. on Route 40 near Dark Hollow Road in Henry Clay Township.
According to state police, a tractor-trailer traveling eastbound veered into the westbound lanes, colliding head-on with a Ford pickup truck. The force of the impact sent the pickup truck into a second head-on collision with a Chevrolet express van. Tragically, the drivers of both the tractor-trailer and the Ford pickup, along with a front seat passenger in the van, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders rushed five occupants from the van, including the driver, to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment. The identities of the deceased victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, as confirmed by Fayette County Coroner Bob Baker.
