On November 6, 2023, officials celebrated the legacy of Gibbs, the first African American woman to win a world kickboxing title, with a statue now proudly displayed in the park across from Chester City Hall at East Fourth Street and Avenue of the States.

Freida has shown us what’s possible when determination meets purpose.” Known as “The Most Dangerous Woman in the World,” Gibbs’ illustrious career spanned three decades, earning her multiple world titles from organizations like ISKA, WKA, and WCK.
The statue, sculpted by Jennifer Frudakis-Petry and cast by Laran Bronze, initially made its debut at Cabrini University in 2022. Following the university’s closure, the statue was transferred to Villanova University, which graciously gifted it to Chester.
