Norwich Cathedral Hosts Three-Night Lenten Mission in March

A three-night Lenten Mission will take place at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich from March 9 to March 11, 2024. The event, led by missionary Fr. Herald Joseph Brock, CFR, aims to inspire participants through prayer, reflection, and opportunities for sacramental encounters. It is titled “Lifeboat: A Radical Reorientation for Catholic Survival” and is designed to offer clarity, encouragement, and renewal.

Mission Focus and Schedule

The mission will commence at 6:30 p.m. on March 9. Attendees will be invited to “put out into the deep” as they embark on the Lenten season, seeking a deeper conversion and a clearer sense of purpose. The first two nights will feature discussions on themes such as “where we are, how we got here, where we are going, and how we get there.”

Fr. Brock will provide guidance tailored for parish ministers, catechetical leaders, catechumens, and parishioners who are navigating the challenges of living out their faith in contemporary society. Light refreshments will be served following each evening’s program.

The final night will highlight a Night of Prayer for Renewal on March 11. This gathering will include Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and a brief reflection by Fr. Brock. Priests from around the Diocese will join him to facilitate extended opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. A reception in the Parish Hall will follow the Benediction.
