Roger C. Davies, a dedicated pastor with over 50 years of ministry experience, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, in Cambridge, Minnesota. He was 94 years old. Davies led numerous congregations to faith and served as a guiding light in his community, leaving behind a profound legacy.
A Life Rooted in Faith and Service
Born on June 15, 1931, in Rolette, South Dakota, to Clyde and Leila Davies, Roger was the eldest of six children. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948 and later pursued theological studies at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. It was during his time at university that he recognized his calling to ministry, a passion that began in his childhood.
At Bob Jones University, Davies met Elizabeth (“Betty”) A. Dobson, a talented musician from Canaan, New York. The couple married in July 1953, starting a family that would eventually include four sons: John Roger, David Samuel, Daniel Kent, and Dale Allen. After completing their degrees, they moved to Canaan, New York, where Roger began his pastoral career.
A Multifaceted Ministry
Over the years, Roger C. Davies served as pastor in more than fifteen Baptist churches across several states, including Minnesota, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, California, South Dakota, Iowa, Utah, and Wyoming. His commitment extended beyond the pulpit, as he also held the position of Chaplain at the Worcester County Jail in Massachusetts and served as camp pastor at various Christian camps.
Davies was known for his love of reading, travel, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through frequent walks. He cherished family moments, which included picnics, park visits, and camping trips throughout New England. His dedication to both his ministry and his family resonated deeply with those around him.
He is survived by his brothers Keith and Birdell, sister Nora Reta, and his sons David (wife Eileen), Daniel (wife Tracy), and Dale (wife Carroll Rose). Davies’ legacy continues through his ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate Roger C. Davies’ life will take place on May 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Cambridge, Minnesota. This gathering will honor his remarkable contributions to the community and the countless lives he touched during his lifetime.
