Lionsgate Unveils Teaser Trailer for “The Hunger Games” Prequel

Lionsgate has officially released the teaser trailer for the much-anticipated film, “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.” Set in the world of Panem, the film takes place 24 years prior to the events of the original “The Hunger Games” series, focusing on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.

The trailer introduces a young Plutarch Heavensbee, portrayed by Jesse Plemons, who is in District 12 during the reaping ceremony. Here, he encounters a 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada. Haymitch, a District 12 tribute, will eventually become known for mentoring Katniss Everdeen in the 74th Hunger Games.

The film features a talented ensemble cast that includes Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee Latier, and Maya Hawke as Wiress. Additional cast members are Ben Wang as Wyatt Callow, Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket, and Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman. The film also stars Lili Taylor as Mags Flanagan, Billy Porter as Magno Stift, Glenn Close as Drusilla Sickle, and Ralph Fiennes as President Coriolanus Snow.
