Aydan Nix Opens Up About Bond with Gigi and Bella Hadid

Aydan Nix, the newly discovered half-sister of supermodels Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid, has shared her experiences and reflections on her relationship with her famous siblings. This comes nearly seven months after Gigi and Bella publicly acknowledged their father’s, Mohamed Hadid, paternity of Aydan, a revelation that has significantly reshaped their family dynamic.

In a personal essay published by The Cut on December 30, Nix detailed the warmth and generosity she has received from her sisters and the extended Hadid family. “My sisters, along with the rest of the family, have been nothing but warm and generous,” the 23-year-old wrote. “They have made space for me in ways they didn’t have to. They’ve been kind.” This supportive environment has been instrumental in Aydan’s journey of self-discovery and her exploration of her roots.

After the revelation of her parentage, Aydan became increasingly interested in her ancestry. She noted that her half-sisters, along with their siblings, Anwar Hadid and Marielle Hadid, played pivotal roles in her journey. “Alana sent me resources and inspired me to become active in the fight for Palestine’s freedom,” Aydan explained. “I watched Anwar’s film Walled Off. Gigi took me for my first Palestinian meal and taught me the names of different dishes.”

Aydan’s connection with the Hadids has also opened doors for her career as a freelance wardrobe stylist. She expressed excitement about closing the Desigual fashion show in Barcelona and credited Gigi for introducing her to influential figures in the fashion world, such as stylist Gabriella Karefa Johnson. “I started assisting her when times were especially busy,” Aydan shared.

Despite these positive developments, Aydan maintains a grounded lifestyle in her one-bedroom apartment in New York City‘s East Village. She described her routine, which includes taking public transportation to work and preparing for the busy demands of the fashion industry, particularly during events like the Met Gala.

“My life didn’t change much since my paternity reveal in May,” Aydan said. “I live in a tiny one-bedroom apartment… When the Met Gala comes, I will be working nonstop carrying 70-pound trunks up and down stairs.” Aydan emphasized her desire to lead her own life, despite the added attention from being part of the Hadid family. “Today, I am doing my best to live my life for me and to remember that, despite a couple of extra eyes on me, my life is still my own.”

This story highlights the evolving nature of family relationships and the impact of newfound connections. As Aydan continues to navigate her identity within the Hadid family, her experiences reflect broader themes of acceptance, belonging, and personal growth. The Hadid family’s journey, especially with the addition of Aydan, signifies a blending of lives that goes beyond mere celebrity status, showcasing the importance of familial bonds.

As Aydan forges ahead, she remains committed to her career and her newfound role within a large, dynamic family. Her story serves as a reminder of the complexities and joys that come with family connections, especially in an age where lineage and identity can be redefined.
