A 25-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted for nearly two hours by two men in a moving van before being abandoned on a desolate road in Faridabad, Haryana. According to police reports released on March 25, 2024, the victim sustained severe head and facial injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital.
The incident began late on Monday night when the woman left her home following a disagreement with her mother. She is a mother of three and is currently living separately from her husband due to ongoing domestic issues. Around 20:30 IST, she called her sister to inform her that she was heading to a friend’s house and would return within three hours.
While waiting for transportation along the Faridabad-Gurugram road, the woman accepted a lift in an Eco van occupied by two men. Instead of taking her to her intended destination, the men allegedly drove towards Gurugram. During the journey, which lasted nearly two hours, one of the suspects reportedly assaulted her while the other continued to drive.
The victim was eventually ejected from the vehicle around 03:00 IST, left injured on the roadside. Following the assault, she managed to contact her sister, who rushed to the scene and took her to Faridabad Civil Hospital. Medical personnel later recommended that she be referred to AIIMS Delhi, and she was subsequently admitted to a private hospital in Faridabad. Doctors reported that the woman required 12 stitches due to the severity of her injuries.
Police spokesperson Yashpal Singh confirmed that the victim was deeply traumatized by the incident and has not yet been able to provide an official statement. A case has been filed based on the complaint submitted by her sister. Authorities are currently analyzing CCTV footage and gathering forensic evidence to aid in the identification and apprehension of the suspects.
Both men involved in the attack have been detained following a swift manhunt, and the van used in the crime has been impounded. The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement works to address the grievous nature of this incident and support the victim during her recovery.
