Police Taser Suspect After Stabbing Attack on UK Train

A mass stabbing incident on a train in the UK left 11 people injured, two of them critically, prompting a swift police response that included the use of a Taser on the suspect. The attack occurred on a London North Eastern Railway (LNER) train travelling from Doncaster to London’s King’s Cross station on March 23, 2024, around 19:30 local time.

According to eyewitness accounts, the train was nearing Huntingdon when reports of the stabbing started to flood in, leading authorities to halt the train at the station. Passengers reported a chaotic scene as they fled the train in panic. Viorel Turturica, a taxi driver who recorded the incident, described the moment he witnessed the suspect running past his vehicle. “Then 10 seconds later a man dressed in black holding a huge kitchen knife in his hand runs past my car,” Turturica told the Sun.

As police arrived at the scene, the suspect shouted, “kill me, kill me, kill me,” according to Turturica. The dramatic video footage shows multiple armed officers surrounding the man, who was eventually wrestled to the ground on the train platform. Officers can be heard ordering him to drop his weapon as the sound of a Taser is heard.

Two suspects have been arrested on charges of attempted murder following the incident, which has raised concerns over safety on public transport. The police have not disclosed the exact circumstances of the attack or the identities of the suspects.

In the aftermath, local authorities have urged anyone with further information about the stabbing to come forward. The response from emergency services was rapid, with both police and ambulances arriving at the station shortly after the incident was reported.

Witnesses who were at the station described the fear and urgency as people rushed to escape the train. “I could hear him shouting ‘kill me, kill me, kill me’ to them,” Turturica recounted. “They then taser him, and as soon as he is down, they say to him ‘drop your weapon.’ That’s when I started recording.”

As investigations continue, the police have assured the public that they are taking the situation very seriously. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about safety and security on public transport in the UK, especially in light of previous attacks.

The injured individuals have been taken to various hospitals for treatment, with authorities coordinating to provide necessary support for victims and witnesses affected by the attack.
