IDF Conducts Operation, Neutralizes Terror Cell Near Jenin

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on March 15, 2024, that they conducted a successful operation near Jenin in the West Bank, resulting in the deaths of three individuals identified as terrorists. These individuals were reportedly involved in planning attacks and organizing terror activities within the Jenin refugee camp. The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and included significant intelligence support.

During the operation, officers from the IDF’s Counterterrorism Unit tracked the terrorist cell to a cave where they were observed emerging. Following this surveillance, the officers opened fire, leading to the casualties. Shortly thereafter, an airstrike by the Israel Air Force targeted the cave, further neutralizing the threat.

Arrests in Hebron Area

In a related effort, Israeli police worked alongside paratroopers from Battalion 202 to address incitement to terrorism in the Hebron area. This operation led to the arrest of several individuals suspected of promoting violence against Israeli citizens through social media. The collaboration with the Yehuda Region Police was pivotal in locating these suspects.

The two key suspects were apprehended after being identified as inciting terror and encouraging attacks. Upon their arrest, authorities seized their mobile phones for further investigation. The police also recovered tools believed to be used for manufacturing weapons, contributing to ongoing efforts to enhance security in the region.

This operation is part of a broader strategy by Israeli security forces to combat terrorism and prevent potential attacks in the West Bank. The recent actions underscore the complexities of maintaining security in areas with high tension and ongoing conflict. The IDF and police continue to monitor the situation closely, responding to emerging threats as necessary.
