Wilding Brands Acquires Upslope Brewing in Major Move

URGENT UPDATE: Wilding Brands has just announced its acquisition of Boulder’s Upslope Brewing Co., significantly expanding its footprint in Colorado’s craft beverage market. This strategic move, revealed earlier today, will see Upslope’s production shift to Wilding’s state-of-the-art “Canworks” facility in Denver.

The financial details of this acquisition remain undisclosed, but it propels Wilding Brands closer to its goal of becoming a leader in the craft brewing sector. With this merger, Wilding now expects to produce a staggering 80,000 barrels annually, positioning it as Colorado’s second-largest independent craft producer, just behind Fort Collins-based Odell Brewing Co., which topped the Brewers Association’s 2024 list with over 98,000 barrels last year.

Wilding Brands, headquartered in Lafayette, was formed in 2022 through a merger of established names like Stem Ciders, Denver Beer Co., and Funkwerks. Its leadership team, including industry veterans such as CEO Eric Foster, is dedicated to nurturing a family of distinct Colorado craft beverage companies that maintain their unique identities and quality products.

In a statement, Foster emphasized the synergy between Wilding and Upslope: “Upslope is a perfect fit. Our goal has always been to create an incredible family of Colorado craft beverage companies, backed by a talented team.”

Importantly, Upslope’s two taprooms in Boulder and its location in Silverthorne will remain operational and managed by the previous owner, ensuring continuity for its loyal customer base. Wilding confirmed that the taprooms are not included in the acquisition deal, allowing them to continue serving the community.

This acquisition marks another ambitious step in Wilding’s rapid expansion strategy. Just a few months ago, the company acquired Great Divide Brewing in April 2023 and Station 26 Brewing Co. in June 2023. With Upslope now part of the portfolio, Wilding Brands is solidifying its position in the competitive craft beverage landscape.

As the craft beer scene continues to thrive in Colorado, this merger not only represents growth for Wilding but also signifies a commitment to preserving the unique experiences and quality that craft beer enthusiasts cherish.
