West Ranch Girls’ Basketball Clinches Victory Over Golden Valley

BREAKING: The West Ranch girls’ basketball team has kicked off their Foothill League season with a decisive 26-20 victory over Golden Valley, securing their seventh win of the season on December 2, 2025. The clash at West Ranch High School featured an intense showdown between two standout freshman guards: Mia Vallas of West Ranch and Brighton Blythe of Golden Valley.

With the Wildcats now boasting a record of 7-1 (1-0 in league play), Vallas shone brightly, scoring 16 points and hitting two three-pointers to lead her team. Her performance was pivotal, as West Ranch maintained a steady offense throughout the game.

West Ranch head coach Paul Gross praised his team’s effort, stating, “We battled the whole game. We played great defense and worked really hard.” He highlighted the collective effort that allowed Vallas to find open shots, emphasizing the teamwork that propelled their success.

On the other side, Golden Valley (4-3, 0-1) faced a tough start to the league but saw Blythe lead her team with 13 points on 6-for-13 shooting. Despite the loss, the Grizzlies displayed resilience and are set to regroup during their bye week before facing Castaic next Tuesday.

In other Foothill League action, Saugus dominated Castaic with a score of 73-32, led by EvaMarie Rios, who recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 assists. Canyon also secured a strong victory against Hart, winning 56-27, with Darby Dunn leading the charge with 27 points and 11 rebounds.
