Vacaville Charities Launch Urgent Holiday Drives for Families

UPDATE: As Halloween approaches, Vacaville’s charitable organizations are rapidly shifting focus to holiday giving, launching urgent campaigns to support families in need. With the demand for assistance rising, community groups are mobilizing to ensure that every household can celebrate the season with dignity and joy.

The Vacaville Fire Department has kicked off its annual Christmas Fund, aiming to assist more families than last year. Residents are encouraged to donate, with each contribution providing crucial support to struggling households. “Every dollar helps us reach more Vacaville residents in need,” the department stated. For donation details, visit CityofVacaville.gov/News.

In a heartwarming tradition, the Vacaville Christmas Wish program is set to fulfill holiday dreams for underprivileged children. For over 40 years, this program has matched sponsors with children, allowing community members to “adopt” a child and shop for their wishes—ranging from toys to warm winter coats. The deadline for families to apply is November 19, 2025, with registration available at VacavilleChristmasWish.org.

Simultaneously, IBEW Local 1245 has launched its Fall/Winter Food Drive to benefit the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. Nonperishable food items are being collected at the union hall located at 30 Orange Tree Circle, or donations can be made online through their Virtual Food Drive. Suggested items include canned meats, vegetables, pasta, and shelf-stable milk. This drive will run until December 31, 2025.

Budget Blinds of Fairfield/Vacaville is also stepping up, aiming to collect 2,500 food items for the Vacaville Storehouse by November 14, 2025. Donations can be dropped off at their showroom located at 57 Commerce Place, Suite D, or picked up directly by their design team.

Another critical initiative is the Festival of Trees, a beloved annual fundraiser benefiting Opportunity House, Vacaville’s homeless shelter. This event runs from November 19 to December 2. Tree donors are invited to design and donate decorated artificial trees, with drop-off scheduled for November 17 between noon and 6 p.m. at the Vacaville Museum. Participants will receive a free ticket to the popular “Cookies for a Cause” event.

With the holiday season approaching, the call for community involvement is more urgent than ever. Local charities are relying on generous donations and volunteer support to ensure that no family in Vacaville goes without during this festive time. Community members are urged to act swiftly to help spread joy and hope throughout the area.

As these initiatives gain momentum, stay tuned for more updates on how you can contribute to making a difference this holiday season.
