UPDATE: A major breakthrough just occurred in the ongoing investigation of a violent shooting in Pasco, Washington. Authorities have apprehended Osman Morales-Salto, the suspect wanted on a staggering $5 million arrest warrant, in Pullman on July 12, 2023.
The Pullman Police Department received a tip from the Pasco Police Department on Tuesday evening that Morales-Salto was hiding in the Aspen Heights area on Military Hill. Early Wednesday morning, a coordinated effort involving the Whitman County Regional SWAT Team and local law enforcement confirmed his presence in the area. After several hours of surveillance, police apprehended Morales-Salto without any incidents.
Morales-Salto faces serious charges, including six counts of first-degree assault, linked to a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in Pasco. Authorities report that residents in the area are being evacuated while the scene is secured and processed for evidence.
During this critical investigation, the public is advised to avoid the Aspen Heights area and seek alternative routes around North Grand Avenue and Pullman-Albion Road. While there is currently no ongoing threat to public safety, about 100 address buildings in the complex are being evacuated as a precaution.
Displaced Washington State University (WSU) students are being directed to the CUB Senior Ballroom for temporary housing, while non-student residents are being accommodated at the Pullman Senior Center at City Hall.
