URGENT UPDATE: Upper Darby firefighters just delivered over 40 Thanksgiving food boxes to families in need, making a significant impact this holiday season. On Saturday, November 25, 2023, members of the Upper Darby Fire Department gathered at the Cardington fire station to ensure that local families receive the support they need during this festive time.
Organized by retired Chief Ed Cubler, a lifelong Upper Darby resident, this initiative has been a tradition for decades. Cubler has dedicated his efforts to providing Thanksgiving meals to those who might otherwise go without.
The IAFF Local 2493 firefighters, along with their families, worked together to assemble and deliver the food boxes swiftly. Fire Chief Nick Martin was actively involved in this heartfelt mission, joining the team at the fire station to ensure that every box was filled with a complete Thanksgiving meal, including all the traditional extras.
Josh Laubach, the Shop Steward for IAFF Local 2493, confirmed that the team members came together to make this happen quickly and efficiently. “We wanted to make sure that every family has the opportunity to enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal,” Laubach stated.
The food boxes included everything required for a proper holiday feast, reflecting the community spirit and commitment of Upper Darby firefighters to support their neighbors. This generous act is a reminder of the importance of giving back, especially during the holiday season.
As Upper Darby continues to celebrate these acts of kindness, community members are encouraged to participate in similar initiatives, fostering a spirit of generosity and support. This event illustrates the powerful impact that local organizations and individuals can have on their communities, especially in times of need.
