Times of San Diego Unveils Redesigned Community Newspapers Now

UPDATE: The Times of San Diego is rolling out an exciting redesign for its community newspapers, with four papers debuting their fresh look starting this Friday, November 10, 2023. The revamped editions of La Jolla Village News, Beach & Bay Press, Downtown News, and Uptown News will hit the streets, marking a significant shift aimed at enhancing reader engagement and journalistic quality.

NEW LOOK: According to Julie Main, Operations & Community Relations Manager, the redesign process was carefully crafted to maintain quality while being cost-effective. “Printing right now is a big challenge,” Main emphasized, highlighting that the new print size will help keep costs down for the non-profit organization.

The upcoming design changes are vital, allowing funds to be redirected towards quality journalism. “All that budget concern is key to having the funding go where we believe it should go, and that’s to the journalism we provide,” Main stated.

WHAT TO EXPECT: The remaining community papers, Peninsula Beacon and Mission Times Courier, will unveil their new designs on November 14, followed by the La Mesa Courier on November 28. This staggered rollout ensures readers across all communities will soon experience the fresh updates.
