Teacher Arrested After Students Consume THC Edibles in Class

UPDATE: A high school teacher in Angola, Indiana, has been arrested after two students ingested THC edibles left openly in the classroom. Authorities are raising alarms about this alarming incident that took place on November 14, during the last class period of the day.

According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, the school resource officer was alerted when two students reportedly consumed the THC-infused candy without knowing its contents. The incident has ignited serious concerns regarding student safety and substance control in schools.

The investigation revealed that the 49-year-old teacher, originally from Reading, Michigan, had left the THC candy unattended in the classroom. As police conducted their inquiry, they discovered additional food items suspected of containing THC on the teacher’s person.

Authorities confirm that after interviewing the teacher, they suspected she had operated a vehicle while impaired. Consequently, she was booked into the Steuben County Jail on preliminary charges that include felony neglect of a dependent, felony possession of a controlled substance on school property, and a misdemeanor for operating while intoxicated. The teacher is currently being held on a $6,500 bond.
