UPDATE: Taylor Guitars has just announced a significant expansion of its SOMOS Collection, introducing six new double-course models specifically designed for Latin music and sonic exploration. This urgent release includes three Bajo Quinto (10-string) and three Doce Doble (12-string) guitars, making them available now at authorized dealers worldwide and on TaylorGuitars.com.

“By enhancing the SOMOS Collection, we celebrate our musical and cultural connections rooted in Southern California and Baja California,” stated Andy Powers, Chief Guitar Designer and CEO of Taylor Guitars. This expansion reflects the increasing demand for innovative instruments in Latin American music, providing guitarists with fresh tonal possibilities.

The new models are crafted with precision, featuring a cutaway Dreadnought body, onboard electronics, and a slim, easy-playing neck, all designed to enhance volume, sustain, and intonation. Each model also includes D’Addario custom string sets tailored for their respective tunings, ensuring an exceptional playing experience.

The collection consists of:

– **100 Series** – 150ce Bajo Quinto / 150ce Doce Doble: Starting at $899 USD, these models offer a traditional aesthetic with torrefied spruce tops and layered sapele backs, delivering warm tones and powerful articulation.

– **200 Plus Series** – 250ce Plus BLK Bajo Quinto / 250ce Plus BLK Doce Doble: Priced from $1,599 USD, these guitars feature bold black finishes and layered maple backs for enhanced brightness and projection.

– **200 Deluxe Series** – 260ce-K DLX Bajo Quinto / 260ce-K DLX Doce Doble: Starting at $2,099 USD, these premium models showcase figured Hawaiian koa construction, offering a shimmering tone with stunning visuals, ideal for stage performances.

The reimagined Doce Doble and Bajo Quinto models are already making waves in the music industry. Leading artists, including members from Grupo Firme and other popular regional music acts, have begun using these guitars to push the boundaries of contemporary Latin sound.

“For me, the Taylor bajo quinto and doce doble have really helped me find new ways to express myself,” said Joaquin Ruiz, guitarist for Grupo Firme. “They’ve inspired me with their fresh sound and unique approach.”

Crafted in the state-of-the-art facility in Tecate, Baja California, just across the border from Taylor’s headquarters in El Cajon, California, these models reflect a commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability. Powers emphasized, “The SOMOS Collection is literally and spiritually built on both sides of the border. It embodies our identity as makers, musicians, and neighbors.”

The six new SOMOS Collection models are now available, with prices ranging from $999 USD for the entry-level 150ce to $1,699 USD for the high-end 260ce-K DLX.
