UPDATE: The Staten Island Business Outreach Center (SIBOC) will honor five outstanding local entrepreneurs at its annual Empowerment Breakfast on Wednesday, November 12. The event is set to take place at LiGreci’s Staaten starting at 8:30 a.m., spotlighting leaders whose impactful work has significantly enriched the Staten Island community.
This year’s honorees include prominent figures committed to both business success and community service. According to Nina Flores, executive director of SIBOC, “These honorees truly reflect our mission of service, growth, and leadership. Each one has shown how business success and community commitment go hand in hand.”
Among the recognized entrepreneurs will be Robert J. Fitzsimmons Jr., president of Gateway Arms Realty, who has facilitated crucial property acquisitions for local nonprofits like Seamen’s Society and St. George Theatre. His leadership in real estate has been pivotal for community development. Alongside him, Laura Volsario, vice president at Gateway Arms Realty, will also be celebrated for her role in enhancing the company’s operations and involvement in multiple business boards.
Another distinguished honoree is Shawn Stradford, president and CEO of Stradford Funeral Home and Cremations Inc. With over two decades of service in West Brighton, Stradford is known for his charitable efforts, such as clothing drives and school supply donations, which have made a significant impact on local families.
The entrepreneurial spirit continues with Hala Maroc, founder of Build a Dream Incubator, the only co-working space on Staten Island dedicated to creatives. Maroc has a diverse background in multimedia, having produced for major platforms like iHeartMedia and FoxSoul.
Lastly, Stephen Molloy, founder of Molloy Electric Inc., is recognized for his contributions to both residential and commercial clients across Staten Island. His MWBE-certified electrical contracting company has been instrumental in local infrastructure.
This Empowerment Breakfast not only celebrates individual achievements but also underscores SIBOC’s ongoing mission since 1980 to bolster Staten Island’s small business community. The organization, a 501c3 nonprofit, provides essential technical assistance and business development programs aimed at fostering economic growth.
