Chairman John Sykes, who has led the Hall since 2020, emphasizes the importance of diversity in this year’s class of inductees. “Rock and roll has always been about change,” Sykes stated. “Our goal is to ensure the Hall evolves with the times.” The ceremony will spotlight iconic artists such as Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, and Bad Company, among others.

The 2025 inductees also include Joe Cocker, Chubby Checker, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes. Notably, Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon are recognized in the musical influence category, while Thom Bell, Nicky Hopkins, and Carol Kaye will be honored for musical excellence.

Sykes has made it a priority to diversify the nominating committee, ensuring it reflects the rich tapestry of rock and roll. “It’s about recognizing the amalgam of sounds that define our music,” he added. This year’s class showcases a blend of genres, highlighting the influence of women and artists of color, with women inductees now representing 33% of the total.

The induction ceremony will feature an impressive lineup of presenters and performers, including Iggy Pop, Elton John, Olivia Rodrigo, Doja Cat, and Missy Elliott. Fans can watch the event live on Disney+ for four hours, starting at 8 PM PT, and a recap will air on New Year’s Day as a three-hour special on ABC.

Tickets are still available for the event, making it a unique opportunity for fans to witness rock history in real-time. Sykes remarked on the significance of the venue, stating, “California is where half of the music was created. It’s essential to acknowledge that.”

As the Hall celebrates its 40th anniversary, Sykes reflects on the evolution of rock and roll: “It continues to surprise us, change culture, and resonate with each new generation.” This year’s ceremony stands as a testament to that ongoing journey, showcasing the voices and sounds that have shaped and redefined the genre.
