Rochester Man Injured in Urgent Highway 42 Crash This Morning

UPDATE: A serious crash on Highway 42 in Viola Township, Minnesota, has left a 27-year-old Rochester man injured this morning. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on December 18, 2025, when a 2019 Toyota Rav4 collided with a 2026 Freightliner box truck near 75th Street Northeast.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, where the driver of the Toyota was found with non-life-threatening injuries. He was promptly transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys for treatment. Notably, authorities reported that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the box truck, a 40-year-old man from Menomonie, Wisconsin, escaped injury in the collision. Current reports indicate that road conditions were wet, contributing to the dangerous circumstances leading to the crash.

Multiple agencies, including the Minnesota State Patrol, Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Plainview Police Department, Elgin Fire Department, and Elgin Ambulance Service, responded to the situation promptly.

Authorities urge drivers to remain vigilant and adjust their driving to suit wet conditions, as this incident underscores the risks associated with inclement weather.
