UPDATE: A highly anticipated rifle showdown is set for this Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the UTEP Rifle Range in El Paso, where the No. 15 UTEP rifle team will face off against the formidable No. 3 TCU. Fans can attend for free, with doors opening at 6:45 a.m. MT. The first relay is scheduled to kick off at 7:45 a.m. MT, followed by the second relay at 12:15 p.m. MT.

This match comes hot on the heels of UTEP’s record-breaking performance last weekend at the U.S. Air Force Academy, where they scored an impressive 2,372 in air rifle, narrowly missing victory against No. 7 Air Force with a score of 4,690-4,689. The Miners are riding high on their momentum, having surpassed their previous records and igniting excitement in the community.

Currently, UTEP boasts an average score of 2,311.5 in smallbore and 2,367 in air rifle, bringing their aggregate score to 4,678.5. A standout performer, Carlee Valenta, is making waves on the national stage, ranking 4th in air rifle and 33rd in aggregate. Her stellar averages of 580.5 in smallbore and 598.5 in air rifle showcase her crucial role in the team’s success.
