Motorcyclist Kevin Jellison Killed in East Bay Freeway Crash

UPDATE: A tragic multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 80 has claimed the life of a motorcyclist, identified as Kevin Jellison, 58, from Roseville. The incident occurred just after 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2023, near Powell Street in Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The collision involved Jellison riding a Honda VT motorcycle along with a Toyota Prius, a Tesla Model S, and a Subaru Crosstrek. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported among the drivers, all of whom remained at the scene and are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities have indicated that alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash. CHP officials swiftly closed three lanes closest to the center divider at approximately 2:52 p.m. to conduct their investigation, reopening them around 4:19 p.m.
