Hilo Police Arrest 70-Year-Old Man for Fatal Parking Lot Incident

BREAKING: Hilo police have arrested a 70-year-old man following a deadly altercation in a parking lot that left one man dead. The incident occurred yesterday morning on Kamehameha Avenue, sending shockwaves through the community.

Authorities have identified the suspect as Robert Bradshaw, who allegedly ran over the 64-year-old victim after a physical confrontation. Officers responded to a disturbance call at 7:38 a.m. and found the victim injured on the ground, with witnesses reporting a violent struggle in which Bradshaw was brandishing a knife.

According to the official police report, Bradshaw fled the scene in his white van after the incident. However, thanks to a swift response, law enforcement was able to locate and apprehend him shortly after. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the altercation before being booked into the East Hawai‘i Detention Facility.

The victim was transported to Hilo Benioff Medical Center but was pronounced dead at 9:03 a.m. Medical personnel made every effort to save him, but sadly, he did not survive. Authorities are in the process of notifying the victim’s family and confirming his identity. An autopsy is scheduled for next week to determine the exact cause of death.

What began as an attempted murder investigation has now escalated to a charge of second-degree murder after the victim’s passing, according to police. Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigation Section are actively pursuing leads in this tragic case.
