At Oak Hills, the Bulldogs faced Mira Costa and succumbed to a heartbreaking 39-45 defeat despite an impressive start. Oak Hills led 18-12 after the first quarter, but a struggling second quarter and a key injury to Kahlis Carlton derailed their momentum. Mira Costa will now face Valencia, who dominated Chino 76-44.
In another nail-biter, Silver Valley shocked the competition by defeating the No. 2 seed Valley Christian with a close score of 54-51. Naomi Durrah starred with an astounding 35 points, sealing the win with a crucial free throw in the final seconds. Silver Valley is set to host Warren next, who triumphed over Fontana 50-37.
Barstow also celebrated victory with a narrow 47-45 win against Coastal Christian, thanks to Emily Franco’s stellar performance scoring 25 points. The Aztecs will advance to face Burroughs, who beat Chaffey 40-32.
University Prep edged out Anaheim in a thrilling 40-38 finish, highlighted by a last-second game-winning shot from Camila Zapeta. They will host Norwalk, who defeated Elsinore 44-36.
Victor Valley Christian made history by achieving their first playoff victory since 2020, winning against Saddleback 28-26. Olivia Metler led the Royals with 10 points and strong defensive plays. They will next host Santa Clarita Christian, who beat Webb 38-32.
In girls soccer, Granite Hills showcased dominant play with a 4-2 victory over Culver City, where Lianna Tsabur scored all four goals. The Cougars will host Temescal Canyon, who defeated Santa Fe 3-0.
Riverside Prep cruised to a commanding 5-0 win against Gahr, led by Jimena Nunez’s two goals and an assist. They are set to travel to Segerstrom next, who won 2-0 against Palmdale.
Adelanto also shined with a strong 3-0 win over Temecula Prep, marking their third consecutive advancement to the second round. They will face top-seeded Beverly Hills, who triumphed in a penalty shootout.
