Edmond Kicks Off Miracle on 2nd Street Festivities for Holidays

EDMOND, OK: The holiday season has officially begun in Edmond with the launch of the Miracle on 2nd Street festivities, celebrating the iconic Route 66 centennial. Just announced, the events kicked off today with the opening of the Edmond Ice Rink at Mitch Park, inviting families to create cherished memories together.

The City of Edmond revealed exciting plans for the upcoming weeks. The Deck the Downtown Tree Lighting event is set for November 13, featuring a special appearance by Santa, live reindeer, and festive caroling. This event marks a highlight in a series of celebrations that will continue through the new year.

Jennifer Thornton, the Tourism Director for Visit Edmond, emphasized the event’s significance: “Miracle on 2nd Street is all about creating memories with people you cherish.” With this sentiment, the community is gearing up for more holiday cheer, including the highly anticipated Turkey Trot 5K & 1 Mile Walk on Thanksgiving morning.

As part of the festivities, Edmond will also host Luminance: An Enchanted Stroll at Mitch Park, along with Small Business Saturday shopping events and free horse-drawn carriage rides on select dates in December. Families can visit Santa at Citizens Bank downtown or explore the Indoor Farmers Market for local goods.

In a unique twist, local candle maker Thomas Blonde is introducing a special ‘miracle candle,’ available at Silver Leaf Gems and Frenzy Brewing, adding a personal touch to the holiday spirit.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to submit their holiday events for listing on the Visit Edmond website, ensuring the entire community can participate in the celebrations.
