URGENT UPDATE: After a decade of serving the Pigtown community, Culinary Architecture is officially relocating to Little Italy. The gourmet market and eatery, known for its globally inspired groceries and housemade pastries, will move from 767 Washington Blvd. to a larger space at 236 S. High St. in January 2024.
Chef and co-owner Sylva Lin announced the move, stating that the expansion is essential due to the shop’s increasing popularity and demand for its catering services. With over 4,100 followers on Instagram and a loyal customer base, Culinary Architecture has outgrown its current location, which also expanded into the neighboring property.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Lin expressed the emotional weight of the decision, noting, “When you know everybody’s baby, you know when they graduate… it’s hard to tell somebody that we’re going.” Fortunately, the community has responded positively, with excited comments from customers eager to see the growth of Culinary Architecture.
The new location, formerly home to the Italian restaurant Lew Gambino’s, offers more space for Culinary Architecture to enhance its offerings. Lin envisions a dynamic environment with an expanded selection of perishable goods, tasting programs, and an evolving cheese counter. “I found my home,” she declared after touring the new space.
Little Italy is synonymous with food culture, and Lin believes that this move aligns perfectly with the identity of the neighborhood. “Every city has an iconic place for food. We want to be that in Baltimore,” she stated, emphasizing her commitment to bringing deliciousness to the community.
As the relocation date approaches, Lin and her team are excited to continue providing the beloved communal seating and eclectic pantry staples that customers cherish. They aim to increase foot traffic and enhance the shopping experience, ensuring that the essence of Culinary Architecture remains intact.
Stay tuned for further updates as Culinary Architecture makes this significant transition. This is not just a change of address; it’s a new chapter in a beloved Baltimore establishment’s story.
