Colorado Buffs End Road Losing Streak, Defeat Kansas State 56-47

URGENT UPDATE: The Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball team has broken its eight-game road losing streak in conference play, securing a vital 56-47 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats at Bramlage Coliseum on January 29, 2026. This marks the Buffs’ first road win this season, a significant turnaround for the team.

The Buffs (14-7, 5-4 Big 12) showcased tenacious defense and outstanding rebounding, outpacing the Wildcats (11-11, 4-5 Big 12) by a margin of 41-33. Colorado converted 16 offensive rebounds into 15 second-chance points and limited K-State to a dismal 32.7% shooting percentage throughout the game.

Zyanna Walker emerged as the star of the night, contributing 13 points and a career-high 10 rebounds, along with four steals against her former team. Walker’s pivotal 3-pointer midway through the fourth quarter ignited a decisive run, helping the Buffs outscore the Wildcats 18-6 in the final minutes.

Head coach JR Payne praised the team’s collective effort: “Lots of different people contributed, as we should. In order to try to win a game on the road in the Big 12, everyone’s going to have to do their job really well,” he stated.

Logyn Greer made a significant impact off the bench, scoring 11 points with six rebounds, while Jade Masogayo added 13 points and seven rebounds. The Buffs displayed a balanced offensive attack, with multiple players contributing consistently.

The game was tightly contested, with neither team leading by more than eight points until the fourth quarter. After Kansas State briefly surged ahead with an 8-0 run, Colorado regained the lead with clutch plays, including Greer’s offensive rebound and put-back.

As the clock wound down, Walker’s late free throws sealed the victory, much to the delight of the Buffs’ fans. The win not only boosts the team’s morale but sets the stage for their next matchup against Kansas on Sunday at 1 p.m. MT on ESPN+.

This victory is a crucial step for the Buffs as they aim to gain momentum in the Big 12 Conference, especially after struggling in previous losses due to poor fourth-quarter performances.

Expect the Buffs to carry this newfound confidence into their upcoming game, as they look to build on this important win and continue their ascent in the league standings.
