Austin Launches Free Spay/Neuter Clinic, Aiming to Help 1,200 Pets

URGENT UPDATE: Austin Animal Services has just launched a free spay/neuter clinic for pets in Austin and Travis County, running from November 13 to November 17, 2025. This initiative, in partnership with Greater Good Charities, aims to assist 1,200 pets by providing essential services that many pet owners struggle to afford.

The clinic will offer not only spay and neuter surgeries but also free vaccinations, microchipping, and flea/tick prevention treatments. Rolando Fernandez, Interim Director of Animal Services, stated, “As Austin’s municipal shelter, we’re committed to making sure every pet owner—no matter their income or neighborhood—has access to the services that keep pets healthy and communities safe.”

This clinic, which is the sixth of its kind in the past year, addresses the ongoing problem of animal overpopulation. With more than 5,000 pets already helped through similar initiatives, this new clinic aims to further reduce the number of stray and homeless animals in the area. The services offered typically cost between $75 to several hundred dollars, but this clinic eliminates those financial barriers.

Pet owners are urged to arrive early at the clinic located at 11580 Stonehollow Dr., Suite 160, Austin, TX 78758. Registration opens at 6:00 AM daily and will continue until 10:00 AM or until capacity is reached. Services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, emphasizing the urgency of this opportunity.

As the clinic prepares for another event in early 2026, the focus remains on promoting responsible pet ownership and ensuring community safety. While the influx of pet owners may create some logistical challenges, the overarching goal is to enhance the well-being of pets and their families.

This community-driven effort underscores a commitment to providing accessible health care for animals in Austin, reinforcing the city’s progressive stance on animal welfare. The initiative not only uplifts the lives of pets but also fosters a stronger bond between pet owners and their communities.
