Outstanding Performances Lead Razorbacks to Victory
Darius Acuff Jr., the SEC’s leading scorer, played a pivotal role, tallying 24 points, including five crucial points in overtime. Acuff also contributed significantly with seven assists, showcasing his all-around talent. The Razorbacks, who now hold a season record of 25-8, will face 22nd-ranked Vanderbilt in the championship game after Vanderbilt’s impressive win over 4th-ranked Florida.
Meleek Thomas was a standout for Arkansas, scoring 29 points and adding to the team’s offensive momentum. Trevon Brazile also made a significant impact with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Malique Ewin rounded out the scoring with 14 points, including a vital dunk that put Arkansas ahead in overtime.
Ole Miss’ Remarkable Journey Comes to an End
Despite the loss, Ole Miss concluded an incredible run in the tournament, becoming only the second 15th-seeded team to win three games in the SEC tournament’s history, following in the footsteps of Auburn in 2015. The Rebels’ journey ended dramatically as they forced overtime by scoring eight of the last nine points, capped by AJ Storr‘s layup that tied the game at 79 with just 1.1 seconds remaining.
Storr led Ole Miss with 24 points, while Malik Dia added 16 points. The Rebels, under the direction of coach Chris Beard, faced challenges this season, having to replace four starters. Beard’s efforts have laid a foundation for future success as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
