St. Charles North Dominates 2025 Girls Volleyball All-Area Team

The 2025 Girls Volleyball All-Area Team, as selected by the Beacon-News and Courier-News, showcases an impressive roster of talent, with four standout players from St. Charles North leading the pack. This year’s selections highlight the remarkable performances of young athletes across the region, underscoring their contributions to their teams and the sport.

Haley Burgdorf, a senior outside hitter from St. Charles North, stands out with an extraordinary season, recording 435 kills, 198 digs, 52 aces, and 23 blocks. Her accolades include being named an Under Armour All-American and a first-team all-state selection, as well as earning the title of DuKane Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive time. Burgdorf has committed to play at Penn State next season.

Another notable player from St. Charles North is Mia McCall, who excelled as a senior setter. McCall amassed 767 assists, along with 167 digs, 54 kills, 30 aces, and 23 blocks. Her performance earned her an honorable mention all-state nod and recognition as an all-conference player. She will continue her volleyball career at Valparaiso University.

In addition to Burgdorf and McCall, the All-Area Team features several other remarkable players. Camryn Boyd, a freshman outside hitter from South Elgin, led her team with 291 kills, contributing 178 digs, 35 aces, and 24 blocks. Boyd’s performance earned her all-conference honors and an honorable mention all-state.

Another emerging star is Rylie Carlson, a sophomore outside hitter from Newark, who achieved 262 kills, 214 digs, and 25 blocks, earning first-team all-state recognition and all-conference honors.

The diversity of talent is further illustrated by the inclusion of other key players such as Paige Genke from South Elgin, who, as a senior setter, recorded 579 assists and was named team MVP.

Additional Standouts from the All-Area Team

Other noteworthy players include Hannah Herrick from Oswego, who had an impressive season with 326 kills, 256 digs, 41 aces, and 21 blocks, earning recognition as second-team all-state and team MVP. Elizabeth King from Hampshire also made her mark with 313 kills and surpassing 1,000 career kills, alongside her three-time all-conference honors.

The list continues with Ella Maxwell from West Aurora, who was recognized as Upstate Eight West’s player of the year after tallying 561 assists, 137 digs, and 44 kills. Her commitment to Michigan Tech solidifies her future in the sport.

Moreover, Kaylee McInnis of St. Charles East and Emma Peterson from Geneva have also made significant contributions to their teams, recording 340 kills and 378 kills respectively, both earning all-conference recognition.

This year’s All-Area Team reflects not only individual excellence but also the strength of high school volleyball across the region. The players have demonstrated exceptional skill and commitment throughout the season, setting a high standard for future athletes.
