In the Division 1 preliminary round, Central Catholic, seeded No. 32, triumphed over No. 33 Methuen with a narrow 1-0 victory in double overtime. Celinna Perham scored the decisive goal, with Julia Smida providing the assist. The match highlighted Central Catholic’s tenacity, as they improved their record to 8-10-1.
Westwood Dominates in Division 2 Action
Westwood, ranked No. 10, delivered a commanding performance in the Division 2 first round against No. 23 Ashland. The team secured a 3-0 victory, propelled by Julie Hogan’s outstanding hat trick. In girls’ soccer, Nantucket’s Harper LeBrecht scored the only goal needed for a 1-0 victory over Monomoy in the Cape and Islands League. West Bridgewater continued their strong season by blanking Greater New Bedford 7-0, with Sophia Hulme achieving a hat trick.
Blue Hills also delivered a dominant performance in the Mayflower Athletic Conference, defeating Bristol Aggie 6-0 with Caoilainn Knight contributing a goal and an assist.
