John Wayne Davidson, a cherished member of his community and a devoted family man, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of love and service. Born in San Pedro to Cleo and John Davidson, he was the eldest of three brothers and enjoyed a childhood filled with outdoor activities, including camping and fishing. His passion for water sports and the ocean shaped many of his fondest memories.
John attended White Point, Dana, and San Pedro High School, where he graduated in the Class of 1969 alongside his future wife, Laureen Demaria. Their love story began at school, leading to their marriage on October 2, 1971. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Kimmy, in 1973. The family spent countless weekends at “the river,” where John indulged in his favorite activities—water skiing, jet skiing, parasailing, and, above all, fishing.
In 1977, John joined his father-in-law, Anthony Demaria Sr., as one of the first employees at Demaria Electric. His strong work ethic and commitment to the family business earned him great respect. John’s journey led him to Bullhead City, Arizona, in 1984, a move he described as a dream come true. There, he became a firefighter, rising to the rank of Battalion Chief, while also establishing his own electrical business, Davidson Electric.
Building a Legacy of Community and Family
John’s contributions to the Bullhead City community extended beyond his professional life. He frequently returned to San Pedro to assist at Demaria Electric, maintaining strong ties with family and friends. His life revolved around his loved ones, particularly his wife, Laureen, and their daughter Kimmy, who is married to David Hansen. Together, they celebrated many family gatherings, including their well-known “Bullhead Easter Bunny Hop,” creating joyful memories on the water.
John was a man of many passions and talents. He built his own home in Bullhead City, transforming it into a gathering place for family and friends. His ability to balance work and leisure allowed him to enjoy the natural beauty of his surroundings while fostering a close-knit family atmosphere.
In his later years, John took immense pride in his grandchildren, Dalton and Renn. His love and dedication to his family were evident in every aspect of his life. He was not just a husband, father, and grandfather; he was a friend to many and an integral part of the community.
A Fond Farewell to a Great Man
John Davidson is remembered as a great man who touched the lives of everyone around him. As friends and family gather to celebrate his life, they reflect on the countless moments shared and the legacy he leaves behind. He will be missed deeply, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In a heartfelt tribute, family members expressed their gratitude for the time spent with John, stating, “John, may you catch that Big Bass in the sky.” His passion for fishing and love for the water will forever be a part of his enduring legacy.
