Hermiston City Council President David McCarthy Seeks Reelection

David McCarthy, the President of the Hermiston City Council, has officially filed for reelection to the Ward IV seat. His filing on February 24, 2024, indicates that all four city council ward seats will be contested in the upcoming elections. McCarthy, who was first elected to this position in 2022, will compete against Manuel Flores III.

In Ward II, incumbent Roy Barron is seeking reelection, with Caleb Jacobs vying to unseat him. Meanwhile, in Ward III, Leeann Wornell has filed to run for the seat currently occupied by Jackie Myers, who has chosen not to run for reelection. Wornell will contend with Barbara J. Martin in the election scheduled for May 19, 2024.

The deadline for new candidates to file their nominations is March 10, 2024, which adds urgency to the election process. As the filing period continues, the Hermiston City Council elections promise to be a pivotal event for local governance, drawing attention from residents eager to influence their community’s direction.
