Mary Margaret “Peggy” Putanko, aged 87, passed away on October 8, 2025, in her home located in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Originally from Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Peggy was known for her warmth and dedication to family.

Life and Family Legacy

Peggy was born on June 1, 1938, and raised in Edenborn, Pennsylvania, as the daughter of the late Stephen and Margaret Havrilla Plisko. Throughout her life, she embodied the roles of a loving wife and a devoted mother. She was married to her husband, Joseph Putanko, for 56 years until his passing in June 2017.

In addition to her husband, Peggy was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Plisko, and her cherished dog, Daisy. She is survived by her daughter, Jodie Putanko Cales, son-in-law Kevin Cales, and granddaughter, Madison Cales. Her family also includes her siblings: Elaine (the late Richard) Chury, Lanny (Elaine) Plisko, Marlene Guappone, Judi (Edward) Kolencik, and Kenny (Jani) Plisko, along with sister-in-law Vanessa Plisko and numerous nieces and nephews.
