Jane Elizabeth Heath, 67, Remembered for Her Kindness and Talents

Jane Elizabeth Heath, aged 67, passed away on November 21, 2025, at The Barron Center in Portland, Maine, following a prolonged illness. Born on November 3, 1958, in Bangor, Maine, she was the daughter of the late John and Jean Heath. Jane’s life was marked by a commitment to both her career and her community.

Career and Contributions

After completing her education at Hampden Academy, Jane pursued further studies at Katherine Gibbs College in Boston and the University of Maine. She had a significant impact in her professional life as the Director of Human Resources at DeLorme Mapping, particularly during its formative years. Later, she worked at Frank’s Bakery in Bangor, where she became well-known for her dedication and service.

Beyond her professional achievements, Jane was a notary and officiated numerous weddings. Her culinary talents shone brightly, especially in her renowned carrot cake, which she baked for many family and friends’ weddings. At one point, she even operated her own catering business, showcasing her passion for food and hospitality.

A Life Full of Love and Creativity

Jane’s love for travel took her across western Europe and the western United States during her youth. She was also a master knitter, creating beautiful blankets for newborns in her family and circle of friends. Her creativity and warmth left an indelible mark on those who knew her.

Throughout her life, Jane was celebrated for her kind heart and infectious laughter. She is survived by her sisters, Ellen Heath, Anne Stuart (John), and Margaret Carignan (Rob), along with her brother, Richard Heath (Barbara). Additionally, she leaves behind her Aunt Anne, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, their children, and special friends who cherished her deeply.

At Jane’s request, a celebration of her life will be organized in the spring of 2026, with the exact date yet to be determined. She will be laid to rest next to her parents in Bar Harbor, Maine.
