A friendly Great Dane mix named Blayne remains in search of a forever home after spending six months at the Sean Casey Animal Rescue in Brooklyn, New York. At approximately one year old, Blayne’s large size has proven to be a barrier for potential adopters despite his gentle and affectionate nature. Previously, he was housed at a shelter in Georgia before being transferred to New York.
Cory, an employee at the Sean Casey Animal Rescue, described Blayne as “an oversized puppy” who simply craves love and companionship. “It was quite a shock seeing such a big dog here, but he’s just as great and lovable as any other,” Cory remarked. Blayne’s size, which is comparable to that of a small pony, has intimidated some visitors. Great Danes, as noted by the American Kennel Club (AKC), can reach heights of up to 32 inches at the shoulder and weigh as much as 175 pounds.
Efforts to Find Blayne a Home
The Sean Casey Animal Rescue, a no-kill organization based in Windsor Terrace, is committed to finding Blayne a suitable family. Although he has not yet found a permanent home, the staff is actively engaging with the community through social media. A recent TikTok post on their official account (@nyanimalrescue) features Blayne looking joyful and playful, showcasing his desire for affection. The post emphasizes that Blayne loves to cuddle, behaving like “a tiny puppy,” despite his considerable size.
Interest in Blayne has been growing, with Cory noting, “People love seeing Blayne, and everyone comes by to meet him all the time. After all, it’s not often you get to meet a Great Dane.” The staff hopes to find adopters who are equipped to handle his strength and provide the necessary care and exercise. Cory expressed eagerness for Blayne to find his forever family, stating, “He’d be ideal in a home with people who could provide him with the right care.”
Community Support for Blayne
The online community has rallied around Blayne, expressing their dismay at the thought of him spending the upcoming holiday season in the shelter. The TikTok post has attracted more than 220 comments, with many users sharing their admiration for the large dog. One comment read, “Big dogs who think they’re small dogs are the best,” while another urged, “Blayne needs his special person to hurry up and go get him now please!”
The outpouring of support highlights the emotional connection people feel towards Blayne and the hope that a compassionate family will come forward soon. The rescue organization emphasizes that while experience with Great Danes is beneficial, it is crucial for interested adopters not to be intimidated by Blayne’s size. He requires owners who can appreciate and provide for his needs.
As the search for a permanent home continues, Blayne remains a beloved presence at the Sean Casey Animal Rescue, embodying the spirit of a dog longing for companionship. The community’s support is a testament to the impact a single animal can have in bringing people together. With the right family, Blayne could finally experience the love and care he truly deserves.
