DoorDash Driver Caught on Camera Mishandling Food Delivery

A DoorDash driver in Orange Park, Florida, was filmed mishandling a food delivery, raising concerns about hygiene and service standards. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, involved the driver dropping a chicken wing on the concrete before returning it to the takeout container, all captured on the customer’s Ring camera.

In the footage shared with local news outlet WJXT by customer Trena Brown, the driver is seen attempting to extract food from his DoorDash-branded insulated bag. During this process, a container of boneless wings tipped over, causing one wing to fall onto the doorstep. The driver, seemingly unfazed, picked up the fallen wing, placed it back in its container, and attempted to kick away the sauce that had splattered on the ground. He then walked away while licking the sauce off his fingers.

Brown expressed her outrage, noting that her family would have been unaware of the mishap if not for the security footage. The incident has prompted her to advocate for improved training and processes for delivery drivers. “If he can’t deliver food with due care, then maybe there’s something else out there for him to do. Secondly, on DoorDash’s behalf, I’m not really sure what the training is, but maybe it’s time to bring the drivers in or require them to have some type of training,” she stated.

In response to the incident, DoorDash acknowledged that the driver’s behavior fell “well below the level of service” the company strives to provide. The delivery service has initiated an investigation into the matter and has issued a warning to the driver involved.

As a result of this experience, Brown revealed that she has refrained from ordering takeout since the incident, highlighting the impact such actions can have on customer trust. This situation underscores the importance of food safety and proper handling in the food delivery industry, as customers increasingly rely on these services for their meals.
