Community Mourns Loss of Brenda Silver, Lifelong Webster Resident

Brenda (Blanchette) Silver, a beloved figure in Webster, New Hampshire, passed away unexpectedly on January 15, 2024. A lifelong resident of the community, she was known for her dedication to her family and her active involvement in local initiatives that enriched the lives of those around her.

Born on July 11, 1960, in Concord, Brenda was the daughter of Harry and Pauline Blanchette. After marrying Leslie (Les) Silver in 1983, the couple established their family home on Route 127, where they raised their two daughters, Aime and Ashley.

Career and Community Involvement

Brenda began her career at the Mellen Company in Webster but made the decision to stay home to raise her daughters. In 2004, she returned to the workforce, taking a role at Webster Elementary School. There, she managed the school lunch program, a position she cherished for over 15 years and one that allowed her to inspire many children. Additionally, she coordinated the WES Ski Program at Pats Peak, further demonstrating her commitment to youth and community engagement.

Her influence extended beyond her professional life. As a dedicated volunteer, Brenda served nearly 20 years as cemetery commissioner and was chairwoman for Old Home Day. Through these roles, she dedicated countless hours to making Webster a better place, leaving an indelible mark on her community.

Passions and Legacy

Outside of her professional and civic duties, Brenda was known for her love of the beach, particularly Long Sands Beach in York, Maine. She enjoyed searching for sand dollars and basking in the sun with her family and friends. Brenda also had a passion for gardening, often tending to her flower beds, particularly her cherished peonies, and taking her Jeep on off-road adventures. Evenings spent around the fire with loved ones were a favorite pastime, highlighting her warmth and hospitality.

Brenda was often regarded as the heart and soul of her family. She had a unique way of bringing people together, famously declaring, “I always cook extra (at dinner) because you never know who’s gonna show up.” This sentiment encapsulated her welcoming spirit and her commitment to family and friends.

Brenda is survived by her daughters, Aime Silver (Steve) and Ashley Coulombe (Matt); her siblings, Glen Blanchette (Marj), Elaine Lary, Darlene Cummings (Rick), and Harold Blanchette (Kris); and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Leslie Silver; her parents; and her grandparents.
