Chelmsford High School Honors Students with AP Capstone Diplomas

Chelmsford High School recently recognized the achievements of ten graduates and one current senior for earning their Advanced Placement (AP) Capstone Diplomas. This program is designed to cultivate essential skills such as critical thinking, research, collaboration, and presentation, which are vital for success in both academic and professional realms.

To qualify for the AP Capstone Diploma, students must achieve scores of at least 3 in the AP Seminar and AP Research courses, along with four additional AP Exams of their choosing. The students from Chelmsford High School who earned this prestigious diploma include: Margot Betton, Joseph Evans, Julia Fields, Jessica Jerusal, Shalini Kirubakara, Sahana Macherla, Anne Magny, Anjana Muraleedaran, Jocelyn Pica, Sophia Roy, and Jennifer Yu.

Stephanie Quinn, the K-12 social sciences department coordinator for Chelmsford Public Schools, expressed pride in the students’ accomplishments. “We are incredibly proud of the students who participated in the AP Capstone Diploma program,” Quinn stated. “With the help of our dedicated teachers, these students were able to explore their passions through scholarly research in an impactful, multi-year program that will serve them well long after high school.”

Global Participation and Impact

During the 2024-25 academic year, over 160,000 students from more than 3,500 schools worldwide engaged in the AP Capstone program. Approximately 27,650 students received the AP Capstone Diploma, while 12,430 earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate. This global initiative emphasizes the importance of fostering curiosity and engagement in education.

Bianca Peart, global director of the AP Capstone Diploma program, highlighted the program’s role in enhancing students’ educational experiences. “The AP Capstone program reignites curiosity in the classroom,” Peart remarked. “Students are not only building essential skills for college and career success but they’re also discovering how their voices and ideas can make an impact.”

Additionally, Trevor Packer, head of the Advanced Placement Program, extended his congratulations to all students who achieved AP Capstone Diplomas and Certificates in the 2024-25 school year. “Their hard work has helped them build foundational skills in project management, presentation, collaboration, and research that will contribute to their success in college and in their professional careers,” Packer stated.

The accomplishments of Chelmsford High School’s students underscore the value of dedicated educational programs that enhance academic and personal growth. As these students move forward, the skills they have developed through the AP Capstone program will undoubtedly serve them well in their future endeavors.
