Rebecca Gayheart has candidly shared her experience with a lower mini facelift, discussing how the procedure, performed by renowned surgeon Dr. Jason Diamond, has positively impacted her confidence. In a recent episode of the podcast “Broad Ideas,” hosted by Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen on November 17, 2025, Gayheart, aged 54, emphasized the importance of openness regarding cosmetic procedures.
“I’m very open about it because I feel that we have to be … it’s like, why are we trying to pretend like we aren’t aging?” Gayheart stated. She believes that normalizing cosmetic surgery can alleviate the stigma surrounding it. The actress revealed that the decision to undergo surgery stemmed from personal challenges in recent years. “I’ve had a rough couple of years, and I was starting to — the gravity really hit, like, two years ago, 52. I was like, ‘Wow, this is bad,’” she explained.
Gayheart noted that one eye appeared saggy, creating an unbalanced look in photographs. “One looked open, one looked closed. And I was like, ‘I hate this,’ and it was bothering me,” she recalled. Following a consultation with Dr. Diamond, she opted for several procedures, stating, “If they don’t touch anything else, it’s just, like, a neck pull.”
The procedures took place in July, marking Gayheart’s first experience with surgery. She described the recovery process as intense but acknowledged Dr. Diamond’s expertise. “He’s the guy who won’t make you look crazy,” she said, highlighting his focus on facial rejuvenation. “He only does faces … he wants everyone to just look like themselves, but better.”
Explaining her decision to her daughters posed a challenge for Gayheart. “The tricky part was my daughters,” she admitted. “I was honest without divulging everything, but I was home recovering. They saw, and they went through it with me.” She reassured them that the surgery would help her feel better about herself, emphasizing safety and the positive outcome.
In addition to discussing her cosmetic procedure, Gayheart reflected on the difficulties of the past few years, particularly regarding her ex-husband, Eric Dane. In April 2025, Dane announced his diagnosis of ALS, just a month after Gayheart withdrew her divorce petition filed in 2018. The couple has been separated for eight years, and their daughters live with Gayheart full-time.
“We show up for people no matter what,” Gayheart explained, addressing the importance of family support during challenging times. “He is our family. He is your father. We show up, and we try to do it with some dignity and some grace and just get through it.” She expressed her commitment to teaching her daughters resilience and optimism in the face of adversity.
By openly discussing her experiences with cosmetic surgery and family challenges, Rebecca Gayheart aims to foster a greater understanding of both personal well-being and family dynamics.
