Sam Raimi Reunites with Rachel McAdams for New Film After Doctor Strange 2

Veteran director Sam Raimi has once again collaborated with actress Rachel McAdams in his latest film, Send Help. Their reunion follows a memorable scene from their previous project, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which left a lasting impression on Raimi and sparked his desire to work with McAdams again.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Raimi highlighted a specific scene in Doctor Strange 2 that showcased McAdams’ talent. The moment occurred when Doctor Strange, portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch, attempted to dreamwalk into Sinister Strange. During this sequence, dark magic unleashed specters that attacked McAdams’ character, Christine Palmer. Although this action-packed scene was filmed during reshoots, it was pivotal in convincing Raimi of McAdams’ capabilities.

“I had to say things to her like, ‘Do you mind [if] there’s gonna be a ghost attack sequence, and you’re assaulted by these ghosts?’” Raimi recalled. He expected some hesitation but was surprised when McAdams responded enthusiastically, asking, “Okay, what do we do?” Her commitment to the role impressed Raimi. He noted, “She put so much gusto into it and authenticity that she made the ghost scene work.”

This positive experience led Raimi to approach McAdams for Send Help, which features her as an employee in the Planning & Strategy Department of a company. The plot centers around her character being stranded with her new CEO on an isolated island, adding a layer of intrigue to the narrative.

The film is currently playing in theatres and showcases the chemistry and talent of both Raimi and McAdams, reaffirming their successful partnership in the industry. As audiences eagerly anticipate Send Help, the collaboration signifies a notable return for both the director and the actress, who is widely recognized for her roles in films like The Notebook.

Raimi’s admiration for McAdams not only highlights her skills but also reflects the importance of strong collaboration in filmmaking. As Send Help continues to attract viewers, it stands as a testament to the creative synergy between these two talented individuals.
