As romance novels consistently dominate bestseller lists, Finney’s Books embraces the genre’s diverse offerings. The store’s mission is to create “a welcoming and safe space for romance readers of all identities.” Customers can expect a broad selection, ranging from “sweet contemporary romances with a hint of spice” to more adventurous adult works that fully embrace their dramatic themes.
Owner Cameron Lagrone draws inspiration for the store’s name from her dog, who enjoys a good audiobook. Lagrone has become an avid reader of romance novels, discovering a joy in stories that celebrate love and pleasure in all forms. She noted on the store’s website, “What I once thought of as outdated regressive stories have instead been a place where I’ve found stories that celebrate love and pleasure in all their forms.” As a queer woman, she appreciates the expanding catalogue of queer love stories available in the genre.
Grand Opening Celebration Details
The grand opening celebration will take place on December 13, from 11:00 to 18:00. Guests can enjoy complimentary coffee from Please Stay Coffee and baked goods from The AniCakes Co. The first 25 visitors will receive a free branded tote bag, while those who purchase a book will be entered into a giveaway featuring signed books and various “bookish merch bundles.” Additionally, all attendees will receive a bookmark, available while supplies last.
