Belfield Public School Presents “Bibbity Bobbity BAAM!” This Weekend

Belfield Public School will showcase its theatrical talents this weekend with the production of “Bibbity Bobbity BAAM!” at the Belfield Theater. The performances are scheduled for Saturday, February 28, and Sunday, March 1, following preview showings for students on Friday.

The play explores the early life of the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella as she navigates through “Pixie School,” encountering beloved characters from various fairy tales, including Tinkerbell and figures from “Sleeping Beauty.” According to co-director Stacie Wagner, the production features a robust cast of 20 students, many of whom will take on multiple roles throughout the performance.

School’s Fifth Annual Production

This year marks the fifth consecutive annual production for Belfield Public School, supported by a generous $3,000 grant from the Belfield Post 144 American Legion. Wagner expressed her admiration for the school’s senior leadership, highlighting that five seniors have participated in the plays for over three years. “It’s been really great,” Wagner noted. “By their senior year, it’s fun to watch them come up with their own humorous ideas while becoming confident and creative.”

Among the cast, sophomore Faith Forrest portrays Petal, while senior Samantha Romanyshyn takes on the role of Past Merlin. Additional senior cast members include Elise Fugere as the Evil Queen and Helga, Tessa Wanner as Gisela, Mirror Mirror, and Princess Claire, with Aubrey Roberts as Merriweather from Cinderella. The production also features senior Maci Wanner as Flora, who doubles as the costume designer, and Kitty Nelson as the narrator Merlin.

The cast comprises mostly female students, with only two male students participating. William Davenport plays Bossy and the limo driver, while Aiden Black portrays Lazy. Wagner acknowledged the challenge of finding a production suitable for a large female cast and limited male roles, stating, “I give them props for joining.”

Creative and Engaging Performance

Wagner discovered “Bibbity Bobbity BAAM!” through a website that categorizes plays based on cast size. Written by playwright Charlotte Nixon, known for her focus on teenage dramas and children’s theatre, the play is not a musical but promises an engaging experience.

Tickets are priced at $10 for adults and $5 for students, available only at the theater door with no advance sales.
