Investments in Louisiana’s manufacturing industry are set to grow with Pipe and Steel Industrial Fabricators Inc. announcing a significant expansion of its steel processing and fabrication facility in Livingston Parish. The company is investing $5.1 million to enhance its beam-cutting capacity, a move aimed at strengthening the state’s industrial capabilities.
This expansion represents the family-owned company’s second major investment in two years. Alongside the facility upgrade, Pipe and Steel anticipates creating 20 direct jobs with an average annual salary of $62,400, which is 139% above the local average wage. According to Opportunity Louisiana, there are also projections for an additional 36 indirect jobs, potentially bringing the total to 56 new positions in the Capital Region.
Supporting Local Growth and Infrastructure
In a statement regarding the expansion, Susan B. Bourgeois, Secretary of the Louisiana Economic Development (LED), expressed her support, stating, “Pipe and Steel’s continued growth shows the strength of Louisiana’s manufacturing foundation and this administration’s commitment to helping our existing businesses succeed.” She emphasized the importance of skilled labor, infrastructure, and collaboration among businesses in the region.
The expansion will introduce a new steel processing center and modernize existing infrastructure, including high-end equipment upgrades. According to Kylie Sparks, President and CEO of Pipe and Steel, “The people of our parish are key in building the industrial sector in the Gulf Coast region and the state of Louisiana.” Sparks highlighted that the upgrades would enhance the company’s capabilities for emergency fabrication jobs and improve overall efficiency.
Local leaders are optimistic about the prospects the expansion brings. Randy Delatte, President of Livingston Parish, noted, “Pipe & Steel Industrial has been a great partner in our community, and their decision to expand again shows real confidence in Livingston Parish and our people.” He added that the expansion would create new jobs and opportunities for residents.
State Support and Future Prospects
To support this growth, the state of Louisiana has offered a competitive incentive package to Pipe and Steel. This includes workforce development solutions through LED FastStart and a $200,000 Economic Development Assistance Program (EDAP) grant for infrastructure improvements. The company will also benefit from the state’s Industrial Tax Exemption and High Impact Jobs programs.
Construction on the facility expansion is scheduled to commence in January 2026, with an anticipated completion date in June 2026. Individuals interested in employment opportunities or contractor roles are encouraged to register for updates at SourceLouisiana.com.
