Urgent Community Events This Weekend: Art, Fundraisers, and More!

URGENT UPDATE: A series of exciting community events are happening NOW in Luzerne County, offering art, entertainment, and opportunities to give back. Don’t miss out on these engaging activities this weekend!
Wyoming Valley Art in the Garden Exhibition runs through Friday, Oct. 24, at the Schulman Gallery, Luzerne County Community College in Nanticoke. This exhibition showcases stunning works from artists of the 2025 Back Mountain Gardens Tour, presented in collaboration with the Back Mountain Bloomers Garden Club. Admission is FREE and open to the public, making it a perfect outing for art enthusiasts and families alike.
On Saturday, Oct. 25, the Wyoming Valley Stamp Club hosts a special Halloween event at 1 p.m. at the Hoyt Library in Kingston. This family-friendly program will include a children’s Trick or Treat table, an eerie “Haunted Library” display, and a presentation on spooky stamps. Don’t forget: new members are always welcome!
Also on Saturday, Oct. 25, participate in a vital Prescription Drug Take Back event from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the rear parking lot of the Luzerne County Courthouse. The Luzerne/Wyoming Counties Drug and Alcohol Program will provide Narcan, drug deactivation pouches, and medication lock bags, along with FREE child safety seat fittings. This is an essential opportunity to dispose of unused medications safely!
The Back Mountain Chicken and Biscuit Dinner is also happening on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 105 Irem Road, Dallas. Enjoy a delicious meal for just $12 for adults and $8 for children ages 4-10, with reservations recommended. This event supports church projects benefiting the community.
Join the Kiwanis Club of Dallas on Sunday, Oct. 26, for their annual Halloween Party and Parade from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Back Mountain Regional Fire Station. Enjoy entertainment by Charlie Hayes, activities, light refreshments, and treat bags. The indoor parade will feature a costume contest with prizes in several categories.
In a special fundraiser, the Domestic Violence Service Center invites you to A Night at Sabatini’s on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 9 p.m.. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door, including unlimited pizza and three drink tickets. This event is for ages 21 and older and will feature a large basket raffle. Upcoming events also include a Wyoming Valley Real Estate Investors Association meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. at Grotto Pizza in Wilkes-Barre Township, where new members are welcomed.
