In a community-focused initiative, the Daviess County Fire Department is organizing a blood drive to support Assistant Chief Shaun Blandford and his son, Justin Blandford, who is currently battling cancer. The event is scheduled for March 17, 2026, at the Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center from 09:00 to 16:00.
Justin, aged 13, was diagnosed with cancer in late 2025. While medical professionals have indicated that his prognosis is favorable, the costs associated with travel for treatments and other medical expenses are quickly accumulating. The blood drive aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by the Blandford family.
For each blood donation received during the event, the Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center has pledged to contribute $5 directly to the Blandford family. This initiative not only encourages community members to donate blood but also provides crucial financial assistance for Justin’s treatment.
Community members are encouraged to participate in this important cause, which highlights the collective effort to support local families in need. The Daviess County Fire Department’s commitment to helping its own demonstrates the strength of community ties during challenging times.
