LaVerne (Chuck) Charles Arns, a beloved figure in his community and a testament to a life of commitment and faith, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026. He is remembered for his unwavering devotion to family, his impactful career in education, and his deep-rooted Christian faith.
Chuck was born on May 7, 1949, and spent his life dedicated to the principles of love and service. He is survived by his wife, Rita Arns, whom he married on June 27, 1970. Their partnership, founded on faith and mutual respect, flourished in the Brainerd Lakes Area, where they raised their family and built a home filled with love.
Their marriage served as a model of loyalty and shared values. Chuck’s role as a father was characterized by a blend of gentleness and conviction. He instilled in his children the importance of hard work, integrity, and kindness, leading by example in both words and actions. His family remembers him as a source of comfort, wisdom, and encouragement, leaving behind a lasting impact on their lives.
A Passion for Education
Chuck dedicated many years to the field of education, believing in the transformative power of learning. He is also survived by his children Tatum (Steve), Tasha (Matt), Stephanie (Jeffrey), Jeffrey (Laura), Jessica, and Megan (Bill), along with numerous grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, LaVerne and Lois Arns, and his grandson, Bode Patnode.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on January 30, 2026, at Lakewood Evangelical Free Church in Baxter. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation starting at 10:00 AM, followed by a luncheon after the service.
As Chuck’s family reflects on his life, they hold dear the words from Romans 8:38-39: “For I am convinced that neither life…nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
