Beloved Community Leader Judy Parsons Passes Away at 92

BREAKING: Judy Parsons, a cherished community leader from Soquel, California, has passed away peacefully at the age of 92 after a joyful visit with her family. This news comes just days after she celebrated life with her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

Born in 1932 to Dorothy Graebe-Zent and Claude Zent in Stockton, California, Judy’s life was a remarkable journey marked by resilience and passion. Raised by her grandparents after her mother’s early passing, she emerged as an independent and vibrant woman dedicated to her community and her family.

Judy graduated from Stockton College High School and later from San Jose State University, where she became a beloved sister of Chi Omega. In 1954, she married her husband Paul Parsons, with whom she shared a deep love for baseball and community service. Together, they raised three children in their forever home on Fairway Drive in Soquel.

Throughout her career, Judy made a significant impact. She worked for the Girl Scouts and Parks and Recreation before founding the Parsons Insurance Agency in Capitola, providing invaluable support to her clients. Judy was also a prominent figure in local initiatives, contributing to the development of Anna Jean Cummins Park and engaging with various community organizations, including the Sportscar Club and Save Soquel.

Judy’s passion for baseball was evident as she and Paul were devoted fans of the Oakland Athletics, rarely missing a game. Their commitment to family extended to their five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, reinforcing their legacy as the BEST grandparents in their circle.

In addition to her family, Judy was a staunch supporter of progressive politics, actively engaging in local causes and initiatives. She traveled extensively with Paul, returning with unique stories and gifts from their adventures across Central and South America, the Caribbean, and a memorable safari in Africa.

Judy is survived by her three children: Randall Parsons (Alison), Stacey Ely (Skip), and Pepe Parsons (Amy D), along with her five grandchildren: Chris, Boris, Amy, Aly, and Jasper. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, who passed away just months prior, holding her hand in their final moments together.

Family and close friends will gather to celebrate Judy’s remarkable life during the upcoming holiday season. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a favorite community charity in honor of Judy’s extensive legacy of volunteerism and community service.

UPDATE: The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Judy’s best friends and dedicated care team, ensuring her final days were filled with love and support. Judy Parsons will be deeply missed, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, leadership, and community spirit that will inspire many for years to come.
