Midland School Board Votes on Superintendent’s Future Tonight

UPDATE: The Midland Public Schools Board of Education is set to make a pivotal decision regarding Superintendent Penny Miller-Nelson during a crucial meeting tonight, December 15, beginning at 7 p.m.. This urgent meeting will take place at the MPS Administration Center, located at 600 East Carpenter, and includes significant evaluations and votes that could shape the future of the district.

The agenda highlights the board’s intent to enter a closed session under the Open Meetings Act to conduct a thorough evaluation of Miller-Nelson’s performance. Following this confidential discussion, the board will reconvene in open session to vote on her evaluation and the renewal of her contract. This initiative aims not only to revitalize the area but also to enhance educational opportunities for students.

The board will also consider donations totaling $27,800 that will benefit various programs within the district.

Following tonight’s meeting, the board’s next gathering is scheduled for January 20 at 6:30 p.m., marking the beginning of a new term with an organizational session.
