Man Charged with Rape Outside Mountain Top Bar; Bail Set at $100K

URGENT UPDATE: A 29-year-old man from Wyoming Borough has been charged with forcibly raping a woman outside of a bar in Nuangola, Pennsylvania early on Sunday morning. Thomas Joseph Quinn II is accused of the heinous act outside Wheels Bar & Grill at 5222 Nuangola Road.

According to police reports, the victim called authorities in distress at 1:15 a.m., claiming she had been assaulted inside Quinn’s silver pickup truck. Initial investigations reveal that she had left the bar and entered Quinn’s vehicle to speak, but he quickly became aggressive and attempted to sexually assault her.

The situation escalated as Quinn allegedly forced himself on her inside the truck until she managed to escape by opening the door and screaming for help. Two bystanders who witnessed the distress rushed to assist her. One man confronted Quinn, who then fled the scene despite the bystanders’ attempts to detain him.

Plains Township police later apprehended Quinn on the Cross Valley Expressway. He refused to answer police questions and requested an attorney, according to law enforcement officials.

Quinn is facing serious charges, including rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with forcible compulsion, and sexual assault. Following his arraignment by Magisterial District Judge Donald L. Whittaker, his bail was set at $100,000. Court records indicate that Quinn posted bail via a bondsman and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on December 4, 2023.
